Week Six

Have you ever had someone influence and impact your life so much that it helped to mold you into the person you are today? Maybe it was a parent, a grandparent, a teacher, or a minister... Thankfully, I have encountered many positive role models in my life, but there is one lady who is extremely precious to me! I call her  "Dee Dee" and she is my childhood babysitter. The Lord reminded me of her this week as I was searching for a babysitter to watch my little Carlee on Thursdays.

This lady was and is truly what I would call an earth angel!  She always went way above and beyond what any caregiver would ever dream of doing. She taught me how to treat others. Brought me to Vacation Bible School for the first time. She prayed for me on a daily basis. She taught me stories of the Bible and helped me to learn my very first hymns. I even remember her teaching me "Jesus, there's just something about that name." It is still one of my very favorite hymns to this day.

One reason why I am blogging about how this special lady affected my life, is because on Sunday she had a birthday! Even though I would have loved to have paid her a personal visit, the commute was just not possible on that day. So, the Lord laid upon my heart to do a little something special for a lady who blessed me so much as a young child. Although I would have loved to have done more than send her a bouquet of flowers, I hope it at least showed her how much I appreciated her ministering to me as a young child! Now it is my prayer that Carlee will be blessed by her babysitter as much as I was.
