Today is New Year's Eve and what better way to celebrate than with PIZZA!! I absolutely love pizza and I also love the fact that you can call someone up and have it delivered to you!! It is awesome!! As I was thinking about what a blessing this service is, God laid it upon my heart to do something in service for the delivery man. So, what better way to serve him than to also "deliver" his food in return.
Since I didn't have time to whip up a meal, I decided to settle for the next best thing...gifts cards!! Really, who doesn't love gift cards?? Recently some really nice people from our church decided to be kind to us and pay for our meal in this way!! Kyle and I are always really thankful when we are blessed in this way! So, what better way to bless someone else than by doing the same?? Surprisingly, this was a really easy project. Write a nice note, place in gift card, and "wallah" random act #1.
Now, I did not expect anything in return, but it was very nice when this particular delivery man called me up just to let me know how much he appreciated the gesture and that "it made his night". It really does feel good to do things for others! God really knows what He is talking about!! I can honestly say, I can't wait for the next opportunity!
Jessica, this is truly awesome! just a few days ago, I took the girls to get a few "free personal pizzas" that they had earned from reading, and it turns out that we had two extra certificates that we hadn't redeemed so they let us have them too~anyway we drove on to Wal-Mart for a few quick pick-up items and there was a gentleman standing out with a sign that said "will work for food", immmediately the girls and I decided to give him our pizzas! He was so thankful, and truly appreciated it! I know this was All God!!! first of all we weren't even suppose to have the TWO extra pizzas and second there was a man out of no where who was truly Hungry! He needed to be fed and man, what a blessing it was for my girls to see that the song they learned in their Christmas play was real! (they had learned last year a song about Matthew 25:37)! amazing what a blessing we can receive when we obey! showing God's love is an awesome way to be blessed! Sorry I rambled on a bit!!!
ReplyDeleteMarie, that is awesome!! It really is simple just to be more intentional about serving in everyday circumstances. I think if most people looked at ministry in the everyday rather than making time for it, a lot more would get done. (not to say God doesn't call us to make time for some things). I just think it would be really cool if everyone in our church committed to doing this even once a month, our community would be a better place. It is such a great example for our kids too! I plan on developing another list in the near future specifically geared for kids and youth.
ReplyDeleteBoth of you have blessed my heart! I love this idea. I certainly will be more aware of opportunities throughout the day to be a blessing to others.
ReplyDeleteJesus said "In as much as ye have done it to the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me."
Love the challenge Jessica....keep it up!
