Week Two

This week the Lord laid upon my heart a very special family who has been undergoing a great trail with the sickness of their new little blessing, baby Eli. For the past several years, the Phelps family faithfully served the Lord as missionaries in India. They loved the people very dearly and dedicated their family in service to them, as well as, sharing the love of Christ! Unexpectedly, but happily, the couple found out that they were going to welcome a new blessing into their family of four. Since Jennifer had never been pregnant over seas, they decided to take a hiatus from the mission field and pray about what was best for their family.

Several months ago, their little baby boy entered the world. However, he has recently been undergoing some severe health complications with his respiratory symptoms. For weeks now, little Eli has been under the care of a team of doctors at Kosair's hospital who are trying to determine what is causing his apnea spells and breathing problems. Many diagnoses have been thrown around including pneumonia, and a series of viral infections.

Since this sweet couple currently resides in Glasgow, Jennifer has been tiredly yet lovingly staying with baby Eli. Meanwhile, Clifton has continued working, taking care of his two little girls, and commuting to Louisville as much as possible. As you can tell, this has been a true test of faith for every member of the family, as well as, a testimony of love for their children.

Since this family has been weighing heavy on my heart, I wanted to do something special for them. Thankfully, I know wonderful people in most areas of the state so they were able to be my hands and feet in my absence. In Louisville, my dear friend Allison Allen joyfully put together a care package and delivered it to Jennifer at Kosair's hospital. Allison has connections to the Phelps family as well, and cheerfully assisted in this project with me. Love you Allison! :) My mother and step-father was also willing to be my hands and feet to deliver and assist with a care package for Clifton and the girls in Glasgow.  Since Clifton was in commute, it will be delivered on Monday. Thanks Mom and Jeff!

Most importantly, please continue to keep this family in your prayers. Please pray against sickness in their family and the strength to continue persevering as their little boy makes progress. Also, pray for the doctors and that they find the correct diagnosis to treat this precious child. I know they would appreciate it!
